Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – August 17, 1986

I came to the parliament. I told my office to arrange a trip to Mashhad. Mr. Zahid came from one of our students in Türkiye. He spoke about the corruption and disgrace of Iranian fugitive women in Türkiye and about the irregularity of Iran Air flights, and he had brought a sum of money from the people of Saudi Arabia for the war and Imam's share.

The Libyan minister came. He wanted Mr. [Ayatollah] Khamenei's trip to Libya, and he wanted a C-130 cargo plane, and he accepted our requests with yes and no. Mr. [Majid] Ghasemi, CEO of National Bank, came. He said about the evolution of the bank's work in order to attract people's funds and invest in the cases of the government's needs and the need to determine the duties of the head of the central bank.

Mr. [Manochehr] Loggi came from the rocket manufacturing department of Defense Industries and IRGC. He explained about Tau, Scud-B, Eagle and Nazaat missiles, as well as Katyusha and RPG. Mr. [Ali] Shamkhani came in the evening. He explained the plan of operations for the next few months. A group of Basijis came from the provinces of Ilam, Bactran, Kurdistan and Semnan [Persia and West Azerbaijan]. I spoke for them.

Agha Mohammadi came. He gave a report on the progress of the operation program inside Iraq and Mr. [Mohammed Baqer] Hakim's trip to the Kurdistan region. It is claimed that Ramadan Camp is failing to employ Barzanis.

Sarshab Mr. [Ebrahim] Sanjaghi came to sign some items for war works. Mr. Mohsen Rezaei from Bushehr raised their needs over the phone.

At night, we were guests of Mr. [Ayatollah] Khamenei. The war, France, America, Lebanon and economic affairs were discussed. Mr. Prime Minister said that my last Friday's sermon about excessive work in the fight against evil has upset the organizers of the fight. Mr. [Ayatollah] Khamenei confirmed the content of the sermon and it was decided to confirm it in the next sermon. At night, Mr. Mahdavi Keni, Javadi Amoli, Rasouli and Tawakli came.

The army district council came. They reported their situation and told their needs. Two or three women from Masjid Suleiman came and complained about the representative there. I arrived home late.
