Until three in the afternoon, I was at home. In the evening, I attended the [Parliament] Rules Commission, and at five thirty I spoke to the clerics of the Hajj caravans - more than a thousand of them, who were holding a seminar at Alborz School.

Near sunset, Hojjatoleslam Kamal Faqih Imani of Isfahan came to see me and described their meeting with the Imam. The Imam had summoned two or three people from that faction and Mr. [Jalal al-Din] Taheri, the Friday prayer leader of [Isfahan], and advised them because of their disagreements. He said they had expressed their own views and Mr. Taheri had had no answer.

At night, I stayed in my office. I read the reports and watched the interviews and debate of the repentant Monafeqin; it is a strange sight. The Evin Prison Hosseiniyeh is full of repentant prisoners - outwardly, at least. Hundreds of prisoners, including Taher Ahmadzadeh and other influential people, are strongly criticizing the Monafeqin's movement. There is no precedent for such a thing in the history of struggles and revolutions. [Ayatollah] Mr. Khamenei also called; he was satisfied with his two-day rest outside the city. We discussed the introduction of the new ministers, which has run into difficulties because of the campaign against Mr. [Abbas-Ali] Zali in Parliament and the opposition of the Islamic associations to replacing Mr. Mousaviani. Apparently, supporters of the [Organization of] Mojahedin of the Islamic Revolution are doing this.
