The Expediency Council had a meeting. The plan to attract foreign capital, which has been submitted to the Assembly by a dispute between the Guardian Council and the Parliament, was on the agenda. The Guardian Council, the government, the parliament, and the members of the Assembly expressed their opinions. The first of the three points of disagreement was voted in favor of the parliament and was even strengthened, because it also included the capitals of foreign origin in the hands of Iranians.

In the evening, the members of the Propaganda Headquarters of the Western Region [the Islamic Propagation Organization] came. They work for the guidance of the Sunnis, the Kurds, and the people of God. They explained their methods of propagation, I liked it, it is unbiased and comforting. They say that they have attracted many young people.  

The issue of sexual deviance of Catholic priests in the United States is still prevalent in the Western media. A few days ago, the Pope [John Paul II, the leader of the world's Catholics], met in the Vatican and failed to reach a conclusion. One view is to expel them for raping children and boys, and the other is to allow such people to marry in order to satisfy them, as if this deviation is very common in the priesthood of the United States.

Clashes continue in Palestine. Today, the Palestinian Mujahideen attacked a town, killing five people and wounding 16 others. Israel has not yet agreed to the arrival of the fact-finding mission; it must want to erase the traces of the crime by delays.

In Germany, an expelled student attacked a school, killing 16 people and injuring a congregation. In Pakistan, the Supreme Court has voted in favour of [Pervez] Musharraf and to the detriment of 25 parties and groups opposed to Musharraf's proposed referendum.  

On the eve of [Donald Rumsfeld], the US Secretary of Defense arrived in Kabul, three terrible explosions rocked the Kabul airport, and the fighting intensified in eastern Afghanistan. U.S. embassies in the southern Persian Gulf countries have been threatened, and in many Arab countries, people and scholars have boycotted American goods. There is a concern among the leaders of the White House about the opposition of the world's public opinion.
