Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – April 11, 1985

I studied until half past seven in the morning. I went to the Majlis and was in the open session of the Majlis until half past ten. I participated in the special commission of the Algerian statement. The representatives of Bakhtar received money from the people's aid site that is at my disposal to help the victims of the war.

In the evening, the managing director of Defense Industries [organization] brought a new missile design, which is interesting. He has designed a missile with a range of approximately 40 km, which I encouraged him. [Engineer Hossein Nili] Minister of Mines [and Metals] came with a group of managers and gave a report on their work. I also spoke for them. The telex officer of the parliament came and told his needs.

Mr. [Abdullah] Jasbi came and presented a report on the progress of Islamic Azad University, which is expanding rapidly. I worked in my office until half past eight and came home. Iraq hit two cities today, but since the attack is not important, we will retaliate in Basra.
