I described the actions of the King of Bahrain in transforming the Emirate into a constitutional regime and granting more freedoms

[Mr. Kamel Saleh Al-Saleh], the new ambassador of Bahrain has arrived, he is a Shiite. I praised the actions of the King of Bahrain in transforming the Emirate into a constitutional regime and granting more freedoms, and emphasized the need for practical action by Islamic and Arab countries in support of the Palestinians. I praised the Bahraini people's attack on the United States and considered it a sign of understanding the root of Palestine's problems. He also expressed his gratitude for his visit with me to Bahrain and for the improvement of relations.

Dr. [Abolghasem] Mousavi, the head of the Health Services Organization, came and said that all the new studies show that the right way of treatment is the same as the one that the government took to the parliament, but it was flawed in the parliament, and without full insurance, the problem of treatment will not be solved.

Sabiyeh, the late Haj Agha Mehdi Tehrani, came with her daughter and a few others. They told me about the situation of the Faculty of Theology of the Islamic Azad University of Qolhak Branch and asked for more support so that they could implement the goals of their late father. Previously, a group of professors had come and complained about his influence, and they said that the new female students were gradually moving away from the Islamic culture.  

In the evening, I had an interview with Dr. [Hossein] Mehrpour, [the head of the Supervisory Board for the Implementation of the Constitution], for Strategy.  It is supposed to publish a special issue about the Expediency Council.

Russia claims to have killed Ibn al-Khattab and Basayev, one of the leaders of the Chechen Mujahideen, in Chechnya. In France, it has been announced that tomorrow there will be demonstrations by supporters and opponents of [Jean-Marie Le Pen] [leader of the National Front].

In Pakistan, a referendum was underway today to extend the presidency of [Pervez] Musharraf for another five years. The state-run media say that people's participation is good despite the boycott of Islamic parties and groups, but they say that the ballot boxes are empty and they claimed that the government cheated, something similar to [Muhammad] Zia-ul-Haq and [Muhammad] Ayub Khan.
