Sheikh Mohammad Reza Abbasi-Fard visited, encouraging me to participate in the elections and suggesting I take part in election campaign programs, but I expressed my reluctance to do so.

Hossein Marashi followed up on the matter of Gholamhossein Karbaschi’s release, saying Karbaschi is expecting his release more seriously, and it would be better if the clemency is granted before the election. After consultation, they concluded that Karbaschi’s early release before the election would be more beneficial. At noon, Mohsen came to discuss and plan election campaign strategies.

In the afternoon, Mr. Ahmad Shafi’i, Deputy Minister of Intelligence, visited and shared his frustrations about the ministry's current situation, saying he was considering resignation due to the demoralization of the staff, the uncertain future of the ministry, and Minister Ali Younesi’s submission to the pressures from those around President Khatami. He also mentioned the attempts by various factions to influence the ministry’s directors. I advised him not to rush his decision.
