David Kay, the head of the American inspectors, presented his preliminary report to the U.S. Congress after three months of work in Iraq with 1,400 personnel; a report that has poured cold water on the White House, as it says that so far no weapons of mass destruction have been found.

Yesterday, the delegation of the International Atomic Energy Agency negotiated with Iranian officials and is seeking answers to 20 questions, most of which cannot be answered and are beyond the Agency’s authority.

David Kay, the head of the American inspectors, after three months of work in Iraq with 1,400 personnel, presented his preliminary report to the U.S. Congress; a report that has poured cold water on the White House, because it says that so far no weapons of mass destruction have been found, although programs for acquiring them have been seen in Iraq. [Donald Rumsfeld], the U.S. Secretary of Defense, has also said that if weapons of mass destruction are ultimately not found, it will be a great misfortune. The White House’s opponents consider this report a good asset for intensifying their attacks on the Bush administration, but the White House says it is not disappointed and that these six to nine months - when the delegation has requested- are their opportunity to play.

[Colin Powell], the U.S. Secretary of State, has explicitly said that Americans should refrain from traveling to Iraq because of the severe insecurity. He has officially announced that the situation in Iraq is deteriorating and that the coalition (occupying) forces are now the main target of the opposition. Hotels, government centers and American personnel are also under attack. He complains that there is absolutely no security at night and that roads and streets are also extremely unsafe during the day.

The so-called revised U.S. resolution has again not been accepted by Kofi Annan, [the Secretary-General of the United Nations], and France. Annan says that the timetable for handing over administration of the country to the Iraqi people has not been specified, and France emphasizes that a fundamental role has not been assigned to the United Nations. The resolution states that in the first stage the constitution will be drafted, then elections will be held, and after that management will be handed over, but the timing of these stages has not been specified and could take years. Nevertheless, in response to this incomplete proposal, the U.S. expects other countries to provide it with military forces and money and endorse its actions.

At Friday prayers, I delivered one sermon about stinginess and another sermon about the deceptions and contradictions of America and the West regarding Iraq, Palestine and Iran’s nuclear technology.

In Afghanistan, a number of people were killed and wounded as a result of an explosion at a U.S. forces headquarters. Pakistan says that in attacks on the Taliban along the border, it killed a number of them, while at the same time, on the border between the Indian state and Balochistan in Pakistan, a city was hit by a number of missiles and mortars.

[Sergei Ivanov], the Russian Defense Minister, has also warned that if NATO continues its policy of military aggression, Russia will strengthen its nuclear arsenal.
