We went to the cultural center of the Ministry of Labor [and Social Affairs] for the opening of the science and technology conference [future and strategies] of the strategic research center [expediency detection assembly] established by Mr. [Hamid] Mirzadeh. Dr. [Mohsen] Bahrami, secretary of the conference, gave a brief report and said welcome, and I gave a detailed speech on the importance and necessity of research and knowledge development. I worked in the office until night.

In the evening, the members of the [Islamic] Council came to Qom. They expressed concern about the large presence of various foreign and domestic immigrants in Qom, which has changed the cultural and historical identity of the city and is increasing. They said that it is necessary to pay more attention to the cultural and historical development and protection of Qom.

I was the guest of the leader. The upcoming presidential election was discussed and the possibility of Mr. Engineer [Mir Hossein] Mousavi's candidacy and the division of Khorasan province and the poverty alleviation plan and Mr. [Abdullah] Nouri and [Syed Mohammad] Khatami's statements about the memories of Ayatollah Montazeri. Mehdi and Fati came for family matters.
