Hossein Sarfaraz started journalism in the 1950s, in Azhang magazine, edited by Iraj Naboi.

For more than 20 years, Sarfaraz edited the most famous magazines of that day in Iran, including Omid Iran, Khandaniha, Sepid and Siah, Tehran Mosvar and Khoshe.

He was one of the main editors of Rastakhiz newspaper, and the editor of the youth magazine of that newspaper.

His long-term background in the editorship of various publications has caused Sarfraz to be known as "Hussein Sardabir" among the press.

Hossein Sarfaraz is one of the founders of the Syndicate of Writers and Journalists and has been a member of the Board of Directors of that Syndicate for several periods and the Chairman of the Board of Directors for one period.

After the revolution of 1997, the editor-in-chief Hossein managed the youth magazine, which he had founded, for a while, but after a while, he immigrated to America.

Hossein Sarfaraz was also a poet. Sarfaraz published a collection of poems titled Nilgoon in 1944. Now, a detailed collection of his poems with the title like Saru Kashmir is ready to be published.
