In Iran, where religion has always been at the forefront of social movements over the past century, one of the most notable effects and consequences of the Mahsa protests is the absence of religion in the demonstrations.
There is neither clergy, nor mosques, nor any religious symbols present. In the 2009 protests, there was the slogan "Ya Hossein, Mir Hossein." However, as far as I have seen and heard, no anti-religious slogans were chanted. This is part of the conversation with Sadegh Zibakalam titled "Iran After Mahsa Amini."
