Reports indicate that Mohammad Khatami's non-participation is significant.
However, Khatami's media account or close associates, such as Seyyed Mohammad Ali Abtahi and Javad Emam, have neither confirmed nor denied this news.
If Khatami's non-participation is true, it would represent a clear political gesture from him towards the power structure in the country, and it remains to be seen how this action will be received.
Especially since Seyyed Mahmoud Sadeghi and Azar Mansouri have deemed this action highly significant and a source of major changes for reformists in their social media accounts, which, of course, cannot be considered representative of all reformists, particularly Seyyed Mohammad Khatami.
