In a letter addressed to the Minister of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education, the Deputy for Public Rights at the Attorney General's Office stated:

As you are aware, some male staff members are currently working in various healthcare facilities as specialized or non-specialized personnel (including specialist physicians, assistants, interns, nurses, technicians, and support staff) in areas related to women’s health and childbirth.

This situation, in addition to being contrary to religious and ethical principles, has created difficulties and challenges for women and their families, sometimes leading to psychological harm.

Although a significant number of healthcare facilities and hospitals in various cities provide comprehensive services to women with female medical staff, the limited availability of such centers in urban and rural areas forces some women to consult male physicians for childbirth-related issues, examinations, and treatment of specific women's diseases. This not only exacerbates the aforementioned challenges but may also impede the treatment process due to the patients' reluctance and psychological discomfort, resulting in negative consequences.

Accordingly, and with regard to the established religious laws and values, as well as the ethical components inherent in Iranian-Islamic culture and identity, it is essential to uphold social and familial norms within society. In accordance with Article 290 of the "Code of Criminal Procedure" and the oversight and legal duties of the Attorney General’s Office in protecting public rights, I kindly request that you issue directives to ensure the following:

In this context, it is emphasized that necessary guidelines be developed and communicated regarding the mentioned issues, especially the prohibition of male presence in healthcare sectors related to women, including surgical and maternity rooms, specialized women’s departments, and that supervision of their proper implementation and adherence by the relevant units be ensured.
