Beating of Dr. Mojtahedzadeh

On Tuesday, June 3rd, around 2 PM, Dr. Pirouz Mojtahedzadeh, a prominent scientific figure of Iran, who is now 80 years old and suffering from prostate cancer, along with his wife, went to Jamaran to settle in a property belonging to his mother-in-law (with an irrevocable power of attorney).The occupants of the property not only prevent the transfer of belongings, but also assault and verbally abuse this elderly academician in front of the door of the unit.

The consequence of this behavior was Dr. Mojtahedzadeh's distress at police station 123 in Niavaran and his immediate transfer by ambulance to the emergency room of Shahid Tajrish Hospital.Even if there is a legal dispute over a property, there is no justification for trampling on human dignity, especially in front of an elderly sick person and a distinguished professor. Dr. Mojtahedzadeh has devoted his life to teaching, elevating, and promoting science in this land. The treatment of any human being, especially such a figure - regardless of any disputes - should reflect the preservation of the dignity of the elderly, respect for academic status, and adherence to ethical conduct. Assaulting and verbally abusing an 80-year-old man suffering from cancer is not only an unforgivable crime but also a wound on the moral fabric of society, especially within the scientific and academic community.(Photo and news published with the permission of Dr. Mojtahedzadeh's family.)
