The passing of Ayatollah Zia al-Din Amoli

On September 10, 1982, Ayatollah Zia al-Din Amoli, a prominent Shiite jurist and son of Ayatollah Mohammad Taqi Amoli, passed away in Tehran at the age of 78 and was buried near the holy shrine of Imam Reza in Mashhad.

He, who was a teacher at the seminary and an expert in jurisprudence and principles, was recognized as one of the sources of emulation (maraje') for Shiites during the Pahlavi era and after the revolution.
