Re-referring Iran to the Security Council is important from one perspective, and that is that it paves the way for the three European countries.
The newspaper Shargh wrote:
Iran's referral back to the Security Council is important from one perspective, as it will strengthen the three European countries' position for politically paving the way to activate the snapback mechanism that they had started in November 2023.
The approval of such a resolution could provoke a reaction from Iran against the agency's inspections and lead to increased tensions. The Western side may respond by increasing sanctions and taking steps to refer Iran back to the Security Council. Such an action will not bring about a new development, as Iran's nuclear program has been on the Security Council's agenda since 2006.
