Some inmates in Unit 5 of Tehran’s Great Prison escaped from their cells; they set the infirmary on fire; and until morning, the sound of gunfire and bursts of automatic fire could be heard throughout the prison yard.

Investigations show that no attack has been carried out on the Greater Tehran penitentiary complex, its wards, the six prisons of this facility, or its administrative section.
