Confirmation of Abdi Media's notes regarding secret negotiations between the United States and the Islamic Republic by the Ministry of Intelligence's Foreign Intelligence and Movements Organization.

Dr. Mohammad Javad Zarif explained regarding the U.S. message and Amir Saied Iravani's meeting:

"The transmission of the message by him and the holding of a meeting between the Director of the CIA and the Deputy for Foreign Intelligence of the Islamic Republic is correct; however, the original message was addressed to the Minister of Intelligence. But since the Minister refused to meet, the message was conveyed by him [Iravani]."

"In the meantime, it was emphasized that the CIA Director's counterpart within the structure of the Islamic Republic is the Deputy for Foreign Intelligence, as the Ministry of Intelligence has responsibilities beyond those of the CIA—a point the American side accepted with reluctance."
