"Ayatollah Khamenei," the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stated in speeches delivered in Dey 1394 (January 21, 2016) during a "Meeting of Election Organizers":

"There has also emerged a habit among some individuals who continuously repeat 'extremists, extremists.' Well, yes, both extremism and moderation—the extremes of excess and deficiency—are bad, that is clear. However, what exactly constitutes extremism, what constitutes moderation, and what is the middle line are not very clear and obvious things; they are not self-evident issues and require clarification.

Because we receive a lot of news; people look at various newspapers and media outlets, and I understand that some, when they say extremism, they are referring to the Hezbollah and believer currents they have in mind.

No, do not accuse the believers' movement, the revolutionary movement, or the Hezbollah youth of extremism. These are the very individuals who wholeheartedly and sincerely stand on the front lines, those who come to the field when defending the borders is necessary, when defending the national identity is required, and when the issue of giving one's life and shedding blood arises."
