The external threats had become serious. I spoke with the Leader and asked what we should do.

The Leader said (something I always said) that the way to counter threats is to create unity among the people and officials. We said our closest action is the parliamentary elections. The Leader made a significant statement and said: I am not worried about the freedom of elections at all.

I told him: Announce it and call Mr. Jannati and the Minister of Interior and warn them not to act beyond the law. He said: I will address it at the right time.
