According to the report, Mr. Abedini's arrest was the result of a misunderstanding, which was resolved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran and negotiations between the relevant units of the Ministry of Intelligence of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Italian Intelligence Service, which led to his release and return.
In the past few days, the Italian media had also pointed to the positive and expanding relations between the Iranian and Italian intelligence services.
