Mrs. Amini's father reported that the agents at Tehran International Airport did not allow him, his wife and son to board the flight and their passports were confiscated.

They planned to travel to Strasbourg to receive the Sakharov Prize.  This award was given to Mehsa Amini after he was killed during his arrest by the Irshad patrol.

In a statement describing the incident, Amjad Amini wrote: "We had a visa and wanted to go on this trip legally, but after going to Tehran International Airport and receiving the flight card and handing over the luggage, unfortunately, we were told in the police section of the passport that you are not allowed to go out.  They confiscated the passports of me, my wife, and my child, and we were prevented from leaving the country."/BBC Farsi
