اطلاعیه‌ای درباره ترکان

An advertisement by Kayhan High School about its outstanding student, Akbar Turkan, published in the newspaper in 1970.

The late Turkan was one of the top managers in Iran and served in two administrations under Hashemi Rafsanjani. He was also the only civilian to hold the position of Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Support in the Islamic Republic.

He was among the managers whom journalists approached with trepidation. If he noticed that a reporter coming for an interview lacked sufficient information, he would refuse to conduct the interview. Typically, he would assess journalists with a few questions before agreeing to an interview.

In the 1997 presidential election, he supported the candidacy of Nategh Nouri, and in Ahmadinejad's first cabinet, he served as Deputy Minister of Oil for four years, until he was dismissed on the eve of the 2009 presidential election.

In the 2013 presidential election, he supported Rouhani, and after his inauguration, he became an advisor to the President and Secretary of the Coordination Council of Free Trade-Industrial and Special Economic Zones.

Akbar Turkan passed away on May 15, 2021, due to complications from diabetes. May his soul rest in peace.
