Seyyed Mahmoud Nabavian, a member of the National Security Committee of the Parliament, in an interview with Nood Eghtesadi News Agency, criticized the method of exchange of security prisoners

Seyyed Mahmoud Nabavian, a member of the National Security Committee of the Parliament, in an interview with Nood Eghtesadi News Agency, criticized the way foreign security prisoners were exchanged for financial resources blocked in South Korea by the government of Shahid Raisi, saying: "We should have said, like the case of Jason Rezaian, that they should put the money on the plane and hand it over.

It is worth mentioning that in September 2023, it was announced that Iran and the United States had each released five prisoners who were nationals of the other side, and that $6 billion of Iran's frozen resources in South Korea had been transferred to a bank account in Qatar.

Jason Rezaian, the Washington Post's Tehran bureau chief who was arrested in 2014 on espionage charges, was released in late 2015 along with four other US prisoners at the same time as the JCPOA, and received $1.7 billion in cash for $400 million in principal and $1.3 billion in interest on the Iranian government's claims from payments for past arms purchases.
