One concerned the exemption of government agencies from paying legal fees; due to the discrimination between the plaintiff, the government, and the people, and the possibility of violating public rights, the Guardian Council's view was accepted. Even though it was a government bill, the government officials also accepted that this discrimination is unjust. At noon, I had a meeting with Messrs. [Abbas Vaez] Tabasi, [Ahmad] Jannati, [Ali Akbar] Nateq-Nouri, [Mohammad] Yazdi, [Ghorbanali] Dorri-Najafabadi, and [Mohammad-Ali] Movahedi-Kermani. Mr. Tabasi criticized the inappropriate handling of the reputation of prominent figures under the guise of fighting economic corruption, and the others concurred. We discussed the council elections and the lack of interest among candidates, which we attributed to the poor performance of the councils, especially in Tehran; we emphasized that the Executives of Construction Party (Kargozaran) should participate independently. The potential consequences of war in Iraq were also discussed. In the afternoon, Mr. [Seyyed Mahmoud] Alizadeh-Tabatabaei, a member of the Tehran City Council, came to see me. He spoke about the issues regarding the council members and their abuses of power; for example, a number of them have settled in houses belonging to the Tehran Municipality, and some expect the houses to be sold to them at cost price. Because the mayor cannot grant such a discount, they have risen in opposition to him. He asked me to help encourage Mr. [Gholamhossein] Karbaschi to run for the Tehran City Council to strengthen the Kargozaran list. He mentioned that Dr. [Ebrahim] Yazdi [General Secretary of the Freedom Movement] says that since Mr. Hashemi has always helped us, it would be good if he could state that the members of the Movement are not subversives, as this would influence the court's verdict. He also gave examples of the conflicts between the Participation [Front] and the Kargozaran parties within the council.Related news Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – January 3, 2003 Take less than a minute, register and share your opinion under this post.Insulting or inciting messages will be deleted.Sign UpComming Up Next A portion of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani's daily journal from September 13, 2003.خواندن 1 minute A portion of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani's daily journals from July 29, 2003, and September 7, 2003.خواندن 1 minute The title of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani's diaries for the year 2003—a sensitive year for the Islamic Republic—which has been released to the publishing market, is: In the Neighborhood of Fire.خواندن 1 minute Part of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani's diary from Sunday, February 9, 2003.خواندن 1 minute An important excerpt from Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani’s diary on Saturday, 8 February 2003.خواندن 1 minuteMost ReadMemories of Akbar Hashemi - February 20, 2000 - Meeting with Abdullah Jasbi and Concerns About Election ResultsMovie / Where is Commander Morteza Talaie?Akbar Hashemi's memoirs - 1999 September 10 - The two-person political negotiations with Vaez Tabasi continued until he was escorted to Tehran, where Hashemi apparently decided to seriously participate in the sixth parliamentary elections. The records of the recent periods of the Islamic Council showed that the parliament is not in charge of affairs and cannot interfere or pass resolutions on the authority of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces at any level, let alone supervise. What will be the future of Iran with the announced candidates for the presidential election? / Conversation with Dr. Taghi Azad AramakiCan I feel tired with you?A Basiji veterinarian was appointed head of the health network instead of an otolaryngologist.Akbar Hashemi's memoirs - 1999 September 5 - The meeting of the senior managers of the judiciary with Hashemi Rafsanjani and their complaint about the neglect of Hashemi Shahroudi, the new head of the judiciary, continues.Memories of Akbar Hashemi - 1999 September 7 - In continuation of the efforts of the late Vaez Tabasi, who used to encourage Hashemi to participate in the elections in frequent meetings, this time he also met with Hashemi.Akbar Hashemi's memories - 1999 September 9 - Continued visits to the belongings, buildings and works of Astan Quds
