Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani – April 6, 2003

Mr. [Alireza] Pirouzmand came from Qom.  He complains about the Strategic Research Center [Council for Expediency Analysis] that they did not pay the necessary attention to their proposed plan regarding religious governance.  He appreciated my last Friday sermons. 

Mr. [Ali] Zadsar, the former representative of Jiroft, came.  He criticized the administration of the judicial branch and he appreciated my Friday sermon and strongly criticized the second Khordadi sermon.  Because of hitting the interests of the country and dealing directly with my last sermon, out of all the articles, they only stuck to one article.   Mr. [Mohammed Reza] the informant [Dezfouli] came.  He gave a report on the situation of the High Council of Cultural Revolution and a plan to determine the indicators for the implementation of the approvals of the general policies of the assembly [identification of the expediency of the system].

[Mrs. Habib Taherian and Rezaei], the directors of the Ministry of Intelligence and the person in charge of the affairs of the hypocrites, came. They said that the hypocrites are stuck in a deadlock and have left their previous positions and are scattered in the north, northeast, and northwest of Baghdad, and they seem to have established a secret relationship with the United States, and the United States is probably keeping them for a possible confrontation with Iran.  Some of their leaders have left Iraq.  They offered to exchange al-Qaeda members with hypocrites if they were captured by the United States. 

Today, the war in Iraq has intensified.  Around the Baghdad airport, the clashes are intense and both sides say that the other side has suffered a lot of casualties.  Another scandal has been recorded for America, which claimed to be in Baghdad.  There were heavy clashes in Basra and Karbala with casualties on both sides. 

On the Kirkuk-Erbil road, the US mistakenly bombed the convoy of its own forces and the Kurds, killing and injuring many.  including several Americans have been killed.  The brother and son of Masoud Barzani, [leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iraq] have been seriously injured. The convoy of Russian embassy employees who were going to Syria to leave Iraq were bombarded by the Americans and many of them were injured.  A 10-ton bomb was used in Baghdad and the Iraqi government declared martial law from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. 
In Afghanistan, there have been fatal attacks on Americans and government officials.  In Bangladesh, people attacked and destroyed the BBC center.
