Hossein Khomeini, the son of Aqa Mostafa who has gone to America, spoke against Iran at a meeting held by hardline conservatives and said that religious rule should not continue and that if the solution is limited to U.S. intervention, the Iranian people will accept it!

[Officials] from the headquarters for commemorating the martyrs of the field of journalism came. They said that, in total, 130 journalist martyrs—most of whom were martyred during the Sacred Defense—have so far been identified, and efforts are being made to hold a strong congress that will also have global coverage. I also offered recommendations aimed at enriching the content of the work

Mr. Ahmadi, the head of the headquarters, recounted a memory from 1359 to me and said that he had been responsible for security at the end of the street where the Imam's residence was, and I arrived by car and my guards asked him to remove the chain, and he said that his superior had told him not to remove the chain, and I got out of the car and walked and said, let him be strict in carrying out his duty.

In the afternoon, I had an interview with Mr. [Abbas] Salimi-Namin's group, [director of the Office for Studies and Compilation of the History of Iran], about the historical period from 14 Esfand 1359 until Bani-Sadr's dismissal. They asked permission to translate the memoirs into English. They said that, for the history of the Revolution, it is the best text for foreign researchers. I said they should negotiate with the Office for Publishing [Revolution Memoirs, publisher of the works of Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani]. They asked that work on compiling the book The McFarlane Affair be expedited.

[George] Bush's, [the US president], statements regarding Iran's nuclear program and his threat to take [the issue] to the Security Council [of the United Nations], and Bush's talks with [Vladimir] Putin, [the Russian president], on this matter, have received extensive coverage in the world's media, and Iran's postponement of the visit by the [International Atomic Energy] Agency's nuclear inspectors to Iran has been interpreted as a reaction to those statements; although that is not the case.

In Iraq, the Al-Rashid Hotel, where American personnel are staying, was attacked with an RPG. Shiites and Sunnis prayed together in a unity prayer at a mosque in Baghdad to continue their unity. There have been many attacks against the occupiers and oil pipelines, and professors and students at Baghdad University have launched a widespread protest in opposition to the change of the university's director. America has said that Iraq's constitution must be finalized within another six months. In many European cities, there were demonstrations today against the occupation of Iraq.

In Japan, smoke and steam have risen from Mount Fuji volcano, causing serious concern among the Japanese; if it becomes active as it did in the past, it will cause extensive damage.
