I arrived at my office at seven thirty. Until nine in the morning, I completed yesterday's tasks. [Mr. Omar Ali Jumaa], the Prime Minister of Zanzibar, came. He brought a letter from Mr. Mwinyi, the President of Tanzania. He gave explanations about the situation of his country and asked for help; I promised cooperation.

Mohsen and [Fereydoun] Ghasemzadeh, [Deputy for Plans and Projects of the Special Inspection Office of the President] came; they had proposals for establishing a system to control the country's major projects from the Planning and Budget Organization; it could be useful and effective. The Supreme Administrative Council had a meeting. The topic of accelerating the granting of permits for establishing schools to the people was discussed. The general principles were approved, but solutions such as speeding up the issuance of permits, providing loans, land, and materials were postponed to the next meeting.

In the afternoon, to attend the opening ceremony of the second Cultural and Sports Festival for Veterans, I went to Azadi Stadium. There was a large crowd, full of emotion and joy. I gave a short speech. I watched the parade, rappelling, and traditional sports and then returned to my office. I worked until eight in the evening and went home.
