Dr. Salehi, Iran’s representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency, said that negotiations with the IAEA delegation are progressing well and criticized the lack of coordination among the relevant bodies. / At Mr. Khamenei’s office, there was a meeting of the heads of the three branches of government. He advised them on coordination and solidarity among the leaders, avoiding expressing differences in public, and preventing tensions during the elections in the face of external threats.

The most important news concerns the reactions to Israel’s airstrike on the Ain al-Sahib camp in Syria. Western journalists who visited the site reported that the camp had been abandoned for a year and belonged to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, which also does not have good relations with [the] Syrian [government].

The [UN] Security Council [meeting] passed with a series of speeches, and the decision was deferred to the next meeting. Israel said that, for our self-defense, we are not limited to operations inside Palestine and also threatened Iran. Many countries have condemned the aggression. The US has not condemned it and has defended Israel, but has asked it not to go too far. The view in political circles is that this aggression was carried out in coordination with the US, and Jordan, while condemning Israel, has said that martyrdom-seeking operations should also be stopped. The Arab League has taken a firm position, but has taken no action other than condemnation. Syria also says that it will exercise restraint and has not threatened retaliation; as in the case of the attack on Syrian forces in Lebanon in recent months, it is clear that it is afraid. Today there was a clash on the Lebanon-Israel border, and an Israeli soldier was also killed by Hezbollah.

Dr. [Ali Akbar] Salehi, [Iran’s representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency], came and said that negotiations with the IAEA delegation are going well and criticized the lack of coordination among the relevant bodies.

Mr. [Yadollah] Tahernejad, [head of the Handicrafts Organization], came. He consulted about running as a candidate in the upcoming [Seventh Majles] elections and resigning from the [Handicrafts] Organization, and proposed that a group of independent figures from around the world, with Iran’s support, be organized for enlightenment activities against Israel and the West and against US extremism.

Mr. [Morteza] Mahmoudi, former representative of Qasr-e Shirin and head of a faculty at Islamic Azad University, came. He consulted about running [in the Seventh Majles elections].

In the afternoon, Mr. Mohsen Rezaei, [secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council], came. He had some points regarding the [twenty-year] Vision [Plan] and the country’s security issues, in view of the threats from the US and Israel as well as the country’s political groups.

At Mr. Khamenei’s office, there was a meeting of the heads of the three branches. He advised them on coordination and solidarity among the heads, avoiding expressing divisive views before the general public, and preventing tensions during the elections in the face of external threats. There was discussion of the conflict between Syria and Israel, as well as the Madrid conference for the reconstruction of Iraq and [acceptance of] the Additional Protocol.

At night I went to Akhtar Hospital to have my tooth repaired.
