Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – November 26, 1987

First of all, I gave a speech at the place of the conference "Scrutiny of the Sanctity and Security of the Haram" regarding the need for Mecca to be the international center of Islam. After the speech, I left for Karaj. The guests were supposed to come. When the news arrived that it was snowing in Karaj, we did not see the point of taking them.

For the first time in the history of the parliament, the parliament started one hour late due to the absence of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker. Mr. Mohammad Yazdi has gone on leave. Mr. [Mehdi] Karroubi was also in the conference, I was not supposed to come in the morning, the schedule had changed.

In Karaj, people had a huge gathering under the snow. I spoke briefly for them and we ended the ceremony. I reached the parliament at noon. After lunch, Agha Mohammadi came. He had some information about Ramadan camp and bank issues. He believes that Mr. [Iraj [Safati Dezfuli], the head of the Audit Bureau] treats banks with strictness. I went to Majles dentist to correct my teeth.

In the evening, Mr. Sayad came for the affairs of the front and the war. Until eight o'clock at night in my office, I did the backlog of the travel days. Mr. [Sheikh Abbas] Pourmohammadi came. He complained about his opponents in Rafsanjan and he is unhappy with giving the party building to the Islamic Azad University and says that it was proposed to weaken him. I came home at half past eight. Mr. Mahdinejad emphasized on the phone that there should be coordination with Syria regarding helping to release the French hostages who are about to be released.
