Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – November 24, 1987

I woke up with the call to prayer and did not sleep again. After the prayer, I visited the Holy Shrine [of Imam Reza (a.s.)]. I spoke modestly on the phone. At eight o'clock in the morning, we went to the barracks of Javad Al-Aima (a.s.) and I participated in the joint morning ceremony of the armed forces. Then we returned to Astana.

Officials of government departments of Khorasan province came and reported. I also spoke in detail. This meeting was supposed to be held at the governor's office. Because Mr. Tabasi was not satisfied and considered it a cause of his weakness, I said that it should be held here. In my speech, I mentioned the war policy of the country and invited everyone to unity.

Then the members of the political commission of the province came. They reported the political, security and border situation. The camps of Ansar and Thaman al-Aima (AS) also reported the status of the borders and the defense plans of the east and the north. After lunch, the fighting clergy community of Khorasan came. They strongly criticized the dismissal and installation of the new governor and the dismissal of like-minded officials.

In the evening, the children of the martyrs came. I spoke for them. Mr. Hosseini appealed for the development of Shahid schools. The official of Shahid Khorasan Foundation gave a report; I also made breakfast for them.

After Maghrib prayer, we went to Mr. Shirazi's house with Mr. Vaez Tabasi and the representatives. In the previous trip, Mr. Shirazi [Imam Juma Mashhad] asked me to go to his house. We didn't get a chance, this time we went together.

From there, we went to Mashhad airport and I returned to Tehran with the representatives of Khorasan and guards. We arrived at Mehrabad airport at around eight o'clock in the evening. On the way home, the person in charge of my bodyguards told me about the security work during this trip and the work problems.
