I arrived at my office at 7:30. By 9 a.m., the tasks were completed. Mr. [Hamid] Mirzadeh came and explained the universities' credit needs and reconstruction. Mr. Jalil Besharati, [Head of the Office for Deprived Regions of the Presidency], came for the development affairs of deprived areas.
Mr. [Abdollah] Nouri and [Mohsen] Nourbakhsh came; they complained about the smuggling of goods from Qeshm Island into the country. It was decided that restrictions would be imposed and something would be done about the financial needs of the island. The Supreme Administrative Council had a meeting. Universities were asked to take action to amend cumbersome regulations.
At noon, I visited an exhibition of very precious carpets at the Imam Khomeini Hussainiya. In the afternoon, I attended the Cabinet meeting; the budget provisions for the year 1371 were on the agenda.
