I arrived late; the Imam had already begun speaking. I sat near the door of the Jamaran Hosseiniyeh among the others, but the cameramen and photographers would not leave me alone. Immediately after the Imam's speech, I returned home and began studying beside the pool. Yasser and Mehdi were swimming and fooling around. My brother Mohammad [managing director of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting Organization] also came. I told him about the criticism I had of yesterday's children's program on the radio; while emphasizing that the program itself is good. He reported that the French company Thomson had recently informed them that it was prepared to provide our technical needs; after the Revolution, it had cut off cooperation. Recently, after the blow dealt to the Tudeh Party and the Soviet Union, the Westerners have become hopeful.
I also spent some of my time planting mint seedlings in pots. Effat developed shoulder pain this morning; apparently it is a localized cold. Fati and Saeed also came for lunch. My sister Fatemeh called to say that she, along with Mother and Masoumeh, would be leaving for Syria on Thursday.
In the afternoon, we had a session in the Majlis. It was the week of the celebration of the third anniversary of the opening of the Islamic Consultative Assembly. Representatives, dignitaries, ambassadors, and the families of martyrs were guests; not everyone had come, but it was a good gathering. They sang a good anthem, welcomed everyone, and the prime minister spoke. Then I spoke about the achievements and characteristics of the Majlis. Refreshments were served, and then we came home. The children also came to the gathering with me and returned later at night. Reports say that Turkey has entered Iraqi territory in a part of the northern border of Iraq; apparently to suppress the Kurds opposed to both Iraq and Turkey, and perhaps for other things as well. We must wait for the situation to become clear.
