Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – May 18, 1982

In today's open session, several bills were passed, and we referred the Retribution Bill to the Judicial Commission for approval. At noon, we had several meetings with representatives, and during the parliamentary recess, I spoke about the importance of the teaching profession to a group of teacher training students who were observing the session.

In the afternoon, I had a meeting with Mr. Saad Mujber, the ambassador of Libya. He informed me that Libya agrees with Iran's policy regarding the war and is helping, and he proposed action and cooperation to establish a popular government in Iraq.

Mr. [Seyyed Mehdi] Hashemi, the head of the Liberation Movements unit, came. He was concerned about the instability of his job position; I told him to wait until the Parliament specifies the unit's legal relationship with state organs. Currently, this unit is under the administration of the IRGC.

Officials from the Prime Minister's Research and Intelligence Unit came and sought advice regarding the scope of their work abroad and determining the legal status of that unit; they reported on the expansion of their work and the cooperation of reliable sources abroad.

We had a meeting of the Supreme Defense Council, and decisions were made regarding the next operations for the liberation of Khorramshahr and entry into Iraqi territory, the conscripts of 1958/1959 [1337] and prior, and many other matters.
