I visited the Imam; he is in good health. He was satisfied with the progress of affairs and optimistic about the future. I consulted the Imam about a proposal in Parliament that had been signed by 81 members—following Mr. Mousavi Ardabili's suggestion that each family should own only one house. He opposed it and said it should not be pursued. I thanked him for his Eid speech. He said, "I became fearful of the disagreements among the clerics, and I said those things to prevent them." He had no specific proposal for helping the underprivileged, only recommending that more work be done for them.
We also talked about the war; I suggested that we should aim to end the war honorably and from a position of strength, but the Imam did not express a clear opinion on this matter and said he agreed with ending the war, but it had to be under good conditions so that it would not have a negative effect on the two nations. He is waiting for the outcome of the upcoming operation to become clear. He advised us to protect ourselves, and he usually emphasizes this during meetings.
Before noon, I returned home and wrote an introduction to the book of the works of Martyr Dr. Bahonar—which is to be published.
