Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – March 18, 1990

Early in the morning, we went to the IRGC headquarters in Qasr Firuzeh to participate in the graduation ceremony. I spoke to them and the parade was held. I came to my office. A group of security forces came. I spoke to them and encouraged them. Two spinal amputation veterans came. They wanted money, housing, car and travel abroad for treatment. I helped them, but not as expected.

Mr. [Mohsen] Rafiq Dost [Chairman of Mustafafan Foundation] came. He gave a report on the work of the foundation and requested for the entry of the purchased goods. Mr. [Ghadratullah] Alikhani came. He expressed his loyalty to the leadership and expressed his happiness at the delegation of responsibility in Jihad on his behalf, and asked for the continuation of construction works.

[Mr. Saw Hlang and Gopinath Pi Lai] Ambassadors of Burma and Singapore came to present the letter. It is a ceremonial ceremony. I also stressed about Iran's greater attention to Asian countries and nations.

In the evening, the government board had a meeting. There was a discussion about the gas pipe explosion in Jamalzadeh Street [Tehran] and its loss of life and property. I gave two Eid coins to my ministers and deputies. Dr. Velayati reported the issues related to Hajj and Saudi Arabia. They say they are ready to solve the problem. The approvals of the commissions were discussed.

Ayatollah Khamenei was my guest that night. Economic issues were discussed. We were both satisfied with the process. The issues of the IRGC and the army, the limits of the work of the IRGC air force in terms of transportation and aviation, and the issues of Nahaja [= army air force], his trip and my trip during the Nowruz holidays and his headquarters in Abbas Abad or Manzariyeh or other places were discussed. I slept around twelve o'clock at night.
