Mr. [Akbar] Turkan [Minister of Defense] came. They talked about the lack of funds for the armed forces and the purchase of weapons from the Soviet Union and the use of satellite photos purchased from the Soviet Union for comprehensive maps with the current situation and the launch of the purchased planetarium.

[Mr. Mohammad Ismail Shushtri], Minister of Justice and deputies came. They talked about the situation of the judiciary, the lack of credit and cars, the lack of manpower, and the low salary of the judges. They are really lacking and have problems; I promised to help.

The non-military members of the Army Information Protection Organization [= Sahfaja] came. They said about the bias of the army [Mr. Mustafa Tarabipour], the head of Sahfaja and not paying attention to their advices and opinions and declared danger. Dr. [Hasan] Habibi, [first vice president] came for current affairs of the country. It was decided that the Ministry of Information will not use the cover of the presidency. Dr. [Mohammed Hossein] Adli [Chairman of Central Bank] came. He talked about the new foreign exchange policies and consulted on the export facilities and strictness of passenger goods and foreign currency loans for export.

Efat, on the phone, spoke of the unreasonable strictures regarding the fight against veiled women and suggested that they be guided by logic; I decided to follow up. In the evening, Dr. Hashemi [Golpaigani, secretary of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution] came for the agenda of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution. Mr. [Masoud Roghani] Zanjani, [Head of the Planning and Budget Organization] also came for the issues of the Economic Council.

The Supreme National Security Council had a meeting. We heard the report of Mr. [Siros] Naseri, [Permanent Representative of Iran at the European Headquarters of the United Nations], with Barzan [Tikriti], Saddam's brother. Regarding the text of the letter, which is the answer to Saddam's second letter, and I have prepared its draft, and the content of the talks between Naseri and Barzan, a decision was made.

At night, we were the guest of leadership with Mr. Ahmad. The decisions of the Security Council were discussed and approved by the leadership. Ahmad Agha requested to take a part of the naval barracks for the Imam's tomb, which the leader postponed to the future. Also, Ahmad Agha suggested that the Friday prayer in Tehran should be performed at the shrine of the Imam, which was not accepted except on special occasions. I came home at night.
