Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – June 5, 1982

It is an official holiday. I stayed home. My routine consisted of studying and taking walks. Ahmad Aqa—who had gone to read the Imam's message—came and reported a massive turnout at the June 5 (15th of Khordad) rally.

Iraqi [fighter jets] bombed the city of Ilam during the public demonstration, resulting in four martyred and two hundred wounded. Israel also bombed southern Lebanon, causing over six hundred casualties, both martyred and wounded. In the afternoon, Mr. Foroutan, the head of the Isfahan IRGC, came and presented a report on the clashes in Falavarjan and at the Isfahan Steel Mill over the past few days.

At noon, a group of relatives were our guests. In the afternoon, Ahmad Aqa came and brought a few pots of ivy geranium flowers.
