At noon, Mr. [Bahram] Tajgardan [representative of Gachsaran], together with Mr. Nouri Borujerdi from the committee following up on the Imam's [eight-point] decree in Kohgiluyeh [and Boyer-Ahmad], came and complained about the failure to implement the committee's decisions and about Mr. Qaemi. [Mr. Ali Taheri], the representative of Izeh, also spoke about the problems of Izeh and the weakness of the clergy there. Mr. [Ali] Aqa-Mohammadi, the representative of Hamadan, also spoke about the [Islamic Republic] Party and the representatives and the political activities of some representatives. Messrs. [Ghorbanali] Dori [Najafabadi] and [Ali] Movahedi-Savoji reported on a meeting attended by about thirty representatives - who are probably pursuing a particular line - whose effects are also evident in the Majlis; under the title of resolving problems.
In the afternoon, people from the Sobh-e Azadegan newspaper came and asked for help. Mr. Basharati from the Qom Jihad came and complained about his dismissal and about the Imam's representative in the Jihad. Messrs. Farahbakhsh and Vaziri from the Oil Company came and complained about Mr. Gharazi [Minister of Oil] because of his strictness; I told them to bring a specific example. Mr. Engineer [Rajabali] Taheri [representative of Kazerun] came and consulted about how to administer the Majlis party unit.
A group of Afghan clerics came and gave a report on the situation of the Shiites in Hazarajat, Afghanistan - who, according to their claim, number more than four million and have an independent region under the title of the Shura-ye Ettefaq and are followers of the Imam. They complained about Mr. Seyyed Mehdi Hashemi for supporting opposing groups against them. It was decided to speak with Dr. Velayati [Minister of Foreign Affairs]. Mr. [Mohammad Ali] Hadi [Najafabadi] came and spoke about Mr. [Mohammad Hossein] Hakim, who had come to Iran from Turkey - without permission - and wanted to send a message to Mr. Seyyed Mohammad Baqer Hakim [spokesman of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq] and was under surveillance at a hotel. He believed it would be better to transfer him to a house and keep him under guard. I spoke by telephone with [Ayatollah] Mr. Khamenei; it was decided that they should continue to watch him there. Late at night, Mr. Hadi informed me by telephone that [Mr. Mohammad Hossein Hakim] had said that the Ba'athists had, in prison, shot several of the Al-Hakim clerics in front of his eyes and had told him to go to Iran and tell this to Seyyed Mohammad Baqer. They had threatened that if he did not return, they would kill his children; it was decided to speak with the Imam tomorrow and make a decision. I was very tired. I went to sleep early.
