The office work was done until nine o'clock in the morning. Mr. [Javad] Mansoori, our ambassador in Pakistan, came. He told us about the important effects of my trip to Pakistan and its effect on relations and the improvement of the opinion of the Pakistani people, and about the strength of Nawaz Sharif's government and the weakness of the People's Party and Mrs. [Benazir] Bhutto and their development plans.

Mr. [Mustafa] Mirslim, [president's adviser on investigations] came. He had a trip report to Azerbaijan and a recommendation for cooperation regarding missiles and questions about research policies. [Mr. Eliz Yupara], Minister of Energy of Venezuela came. He brought the letter of their president about raising the price of oil; He presented a program with a lever to reduce oil production, which I agreed to. It also goes to other OPEC member countries;

It is a good job. He gave an explanation on the policy of currency conversion and single rate in Venezuela and was satisfied. He praised our economic policies.

The board members of Khuzestan sugarcane plan came. They gave a report on the progress of work and the economic feasibility of the plan. Some doubt that it is economical to do so in the assumption of floating currency. I confirmed them.

In the afternoon, Ali and Hassan, the children of Fati and Faiza, came. They were a bit mischievous and asked for boiling tablets [vitamin C], which fortunately was available. In the evening Mr. [Abdullah] Nouri, the country's minister, came. He got opinions about traveling to Türkiye and had suggestions about more activities to warm up the elections.

I attended the meeting of the government board. The bill to generalize health care insurance was completed. I was the guest of Ayatollah Khamenei for dinner. We negotiated and agreed on arms sales to Syria, Shahroud and Semnan issues, Hizbullah Qom, general amnesty, Jalaluddin Farsi, my trip to Isfahan, Afghanistan and Georgia. I stayed in my office.
