I went to the parliament. I stayed in the public session until the recess. It did not make good progress. At noon, Dr. [Abdollah] Jasbi and the officials of the National Shoe Company came. They asked for help from the bank to solve the company's problem.

In the afternoon, [Mr. Rashid Abdullah Al Nuaimi], the UAE Foreign Minister, and his accompanying delegation came for a meeting. I talked about developing relations and the danger of Iraq's [Baath] Party, and the necessity of the Gulf Cooperation Council not supporting Iraq. Officials from the Education and Training department came. I spoke to them. I worked in my office until eight o'clock.

I had two or three visits regarding the Prime Minister's trip to Mashhad. It was supposed that he would have lunch at the house of the Friday Prayer Leader. Mr. [Ayatollah] Khamenei and Mr. [Vaez] Tabasi consider this [matter] to be undermining Mr. Tabasi. I warned the Prime Minister. Since he felt that it would become a bargaining issue over the Mashhad dispute, he canceled the trip.

At night, I came home. In northern Tehran, it snowed considerably, and in the south, it rained. I asked Ayatollah [Mousavi] Ardabili to lead the next Friday prayer.
