Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – December 25, 1990

Heavy snow fell in Tehran last night and it is still raining at 7:40 in the morning. Schools in Tehran have been closed for this reason. On the way to the office, we were delayed for a while due to the snow and blocking of Yasir Street, due to the snow removal bulldozer getting stuck.

I arrived at the office at eight o'clock. Mr. Abbas Sahab and his sons came. They gave a report on the work of Sahab Mapping and Geographical Institute; They have worked a lot. They helped to prepare a national atlas and brought some of their works. I told Mr. [Masoud Roghani] Zanjani, [Head of the Program and Budget Organization] to use them.

Governor Chaharmahal Bakhtiari and two representatives came. They applied for the projects of the province and got credit for the university and roads. We had an export development meeting. We made important decisions in the direction of export development; Including freeing the foreign currency from exports for private sector exporters and removing cumbersome regulations.

In the evening, the members of the Central Council for monitoring the Guardian Council elections came. They mentioned cases of non-cooperation and malfunctioning of the Ministry of Interior and appealed for the monitoring facilities and safety of the upcoming parliamentary elections. I made a favorable promise. Mr. [Reza] Amrollahi, [head of the Atomic Energy Organization], came to report.

In the evening, the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution had a meeting. In this meeting, the members of the Academy of Medical Sciences and also the president of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences were elected. I stayed in my office at night. It is snowing. By eleven o'clock at night, I did the work and slept.
