Before the public session, I met with the commander of the Ground Forces [of the Army of the Islamic Republic] in Parliament. He was heading to the front, and we discussed the Quds battalions and... In the public session, [the representatives] finally approved the taking of uncultivated land from landowners, with certain limits and conditions. During the recess, I spoke to seven hundred Basij officials who had come to Parliament. At noon I had several meetings with representatives, and in the afternoon I held a class on the positions of the [Islamic Republic] Party and had a meeting with the commander of the Navy [of the Army of the Islamic Republic].

The head of the [Army] advisory office also came to meet me and reported the repair of the klystron and twystron radar tubes, which is good progress. I met with Sunni scholars and Friday prayer leaders from Fars who had come to renew their pledge of allegiance to the Imam, and I spoke to them. I also met with seventy university presidents and officials responsible for student and faculty selection, and spoke about selection policy. At night, the meeting of the Combatant Clergy Society [of Tehran] was held in my office, and we decided to form a coalition with the Islamic Republic Party in introducing Tehran's candidates, and regarding the counties, the Combatant Clergy Society [of Tehran] would not participate in introducing candidates. Late at night I returned home.

Colonel Sayyad [Shirazi] called from the south to say that an Iraqi officer had defected to Iran with his family and reported that Iraq's situation was in bad shape. Mr. Khamenei [the President] also called me and asked me to help resolve Mr. Mohammad Khamenei's problem, as his name had not been announced for the Assembly of Experts by the Guardian Council because of incomplete documents.
