Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – April 7, 1984

I used to study until nine o'clock in the morning. We had a meeting of the Supervisory Council of the Broadcasting Organization. As usual, some cases were approved. Mr. [Ahmed] Janati from the Guardian Council called and was upset that the Imam did not consider it expedient to remove Mr. Khalkhali and Mousavi from Tabrizi and did not allow the members of the Guardian Council to meet. They asked me for help to get an appointment; An hour later, they informed me not to follow. Again in the evening, Mr. Emami Kashani [a member of the jurists of the Guardian Council] asked me to either present their content to the Imam myself or to get permission to meet him; I preferred the second one. I asked Ahmad Agha over the phone to fix the problem. They took time for them.

In the evening, the president came home and we had a long discussion about the differences between the army and the IRGC - in fact, the differences between Colonel Sayad Shirazi and Mohsen Rezaei; It progressed a little, but the result was not complete. We have to wait for the results of the second phase of Khyber operation. Ahmad Agha also joined us. The [Ministry of] Information was discussed; It was decided to think of Minister Saleh and to resolve the dispute between Mr. [Asadullah] Lajordi [Tehran Revolutionary Prosecutor] and IRGC Intelligence, to ask Mr. Lajordi to return the same powers of the IRGC to them until the completion of the work [establishment] of the Ministry of Intelligence. Mr. [Abd al-Majid] Maadikhah also came and we made decisions for the work of the [Islamic Revolution] History Compilation Foundation; It was decided to get its budget from the imam. They didn't have anything new on the front.
