Early in the morning, I went to the parliament. The first meeting was in the new year. I read the reports; It doesn't matter. The public meeting is very little prosperous. We removed the speeches before the order; Because public facilities should not be used to advertise the elections, and the speech of the representatives and their presentation may have problems because of this; But the Guardian Council, as a supervisor of the elections, opined that the parliament should do its normal work. At ten o'clock [in the morning], the orders of the meeting are complete and the meeting is over.

In my office, I had several meetings. The representatives came to solve the problems related to the elections. Some wanted confirmation, which I refused to give because of avoiding interference in the elections. In general, the election is free. There are many volunteers and the election campaigns are fierce.

Mr. [Ali] Shamkhani came. He was upset about the IRGC intelligence situation and the lack of cooperation of Mr. [Seyd Asadullah] Lajurdi [Tehran Revolutionary Prosecutor] with the IRGC; I was supposed to help. He said that welcoming volunteers to go to the front is one third of the first stage of the "Labik or Khomeini" plan; Due to the lack of use of the forces in the fronts and the rumors about casualties and elections and [agricultural works in] the spring season, the people's acceptance has decreased, but it is enough.

In the evening, the Supreme Defense Council had a meeting. There was a discussion about the Khyber operation as well as the exemption from the mission of the soldiers needed in the government bodies. I did not give an interview because of the prohibition of advertising in state media; Because I am a candidate to represent the people of Tehran in the [second term] elections of the Majlis.

The president was interviewed. My non-appearance on the radio has given birth to the rumor of an attempt on my life - which has been falsely raised by foreign radio stations for two or three days. In the evening, I had a detailed interview with [Bill Redker], a reporter for the American ABC television network. The militant clerical society had a meeting about elections and campaigns. I stayed the night in the parliament.
