Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – April 26, 1988

After the morning prayer until six o'clock, I studied the subject of prayer, the Qur'an and the interpretation of al-Mizan. I went to the parliament. I entrusted the management of the public meeting to Mr. [Mohammed [Yazdi] Deputy Speaker of the Majlis] and I did the work myself in my office.

Mr. [Mohammadreza] Bahnar, in his speech before the order, bitterly attacked the assembly of militant clerics and their line. The reaction should be expected. They waited in the meeting. Mr. [Mahdi] Karroubi came before noon. They talked about the war and the wounded and the families of the martyrs and other current issues. He prayed for the families of the martyrs of Afghanistan and inside Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine; I was supposed to help. I recommended that in order to reduce the bitterness of division and division in the taste of the people, the militant clergy community and the clergy assembly should give a joint list in the second stage.

At noon, a group of representatives came. The war and the fall of Faw and its compensation were discussed. I stayed in my office in the evening. I did not go to the meeting of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution to do the work.

The question of the possible development of America's role in the Persian Gulf is of interest to news centers. As if the issue is being discussed because of differences of opinion in America itself and its western partners.

In the evening, I participated in the meeting of the Expediency Council. The discussion was about the eradication of drugs, which requires the concentration of the forces involved. It was approved that a headquarters under the supervision of the Prime Minister will coordinate the entire struggle.

Then a meeting of the heads of forces was held. In order to examine the issues of war and suggest to the Imam regarding the better use of the facilities of the armed forces and the army and the IRGC and balance in foreign policy, it was decided that the next meeting will be held in the Imam's office, so that we can negotiate with the Imam. I left for home at twelve o'clock at night. I listened to the news on the way.
