Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – April 17, 1984

I went to the assembly early in the morning. After some time off - for [the presence of representatives in the field of] elections - the first meeting was held. The representatives who have won are very happy, and those who have lost or fallen to the second stage, are in a bad state of mind and it is difficult to keep them in the meeting. Before the order, I talked about the election and its health and freedom and the broad participation of the people. Some people object to its integrity, all elections have had some violations; Such is the culture and upbringing of the society.

In the afternoon, I had several meetings. In the evening, I read the reports and did the administrative work. In the evening, we had a meeting of the militant clergy community in Tehran. Most of the talk was about the election results. Some were sad and some were happy about the failure of the community of seminary teachers in Qom. A discussion was raised about the establishment of a strong seminary in Tehran. It was decided to prepare statistics of students, teachers, schools and facilities available [in Tehran]. We had dinner there and I went to the Majlis to sleep.
