Mr. [Mohsen] Kafi, son of the late Sheikh Hassan Kafi, visited. He has been a religious leader for Shia communities in Canada for several years but could not continue due to financial needs. He has returned to Iran and wishes to be sent abroad again; however, he does not want to go empty-handed and is seeking funding to establish a center for Islamic gatherings.

Mr. [Abolqasem] Dalfy, our ambassador in Belgium, came. He reported on the state of relations and a complaint from an anti-revolutionary individual against me, which faced public protest in Iran, leading the Belgian government to back down. Mr. [Amir] Tehrani, [Parliamentary Deputy] from the Ministry of Intelligence, came to report on yesterday's gathering in Baharestan and the situation in parliament, including the pressures faced by Mr. [Mehdi] Karroubi [Speaker of Parliament] regarding the acceptance of the leader's decree on the press reform bill. He mentioned that the ministry is taking steps to maintain his morale and ensure his resilience.

In the afternoon, Mohsen [Director of the Publication Office of the Revolution] came. We discussed how to respond to the anonymous letter from Mr. Kamran and the publication of books written about me. Mr. [Abbas] Vaez Tabasi [Custodian of the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza] informed me by phone that, after investigations by the Revolutionary Guards and the [Ministry of] Intelligence, it was revealed that Kamran Nazarparast is a pseudonym for a corrupt individual.

Later, Mr. [Seyyed Mohammad] Asghari, our ambassador in Bulgaria, visited and reported on the situation and relations there. Mr. [Ebrahim] Darazgisu, our ambassador in Turkmenistan, expressed satisfaction with the kindness and reception from Mr. [Saparmurat] Niyazov, [President of Turkmenistan], stating that they are influenced by your policies and kindness. He mentioned being taken to a cabinet meeting where he praised Iran and myself, reminding the ministers to cooperate with the Iranian ambassador. He requested assistance to achieve results in negotiations concerning gas and oil.

British and Norwegian rescuers have yet to make progress regarding the Russian submarine Kursk, which is stranded in the Barents Sea. President [Vladimir] Putin is facing intense criticism due to poor management in handling the incident.
