Full Diary Entry:

In the morning, the Expediency Discernment Council held a session. We approved three articles of the general policies of the judiciary, focusing on establishing uniform procedures and the use of arbitration.

At noon, guests including [Abbas] Vaez Tabasi, [Ali Akbar] Nategh Nuri, [Ghorbanali] Dorri Najafabadi, [Ahmad] Jannati, and [Mohammad] Yazdi visited me. We discussed the presidential elections and the potential reactions of the Guardian Council regarding the rejection of the credentials of those representatives who had entered the Majlis with the council's approval.

From afternoon until evening, I worked on pending tasks from my recent trip. The U.S. announced that it would release 30 million barrels from its 550 million-barrel reserves to stabilize oil prices, which the Republican Party opposed. In France, a political crisis emerged over the misuse of state benefits by the Rally for the Republic party led by [Jacques] Chirac, with a French plane, carrying around 100 passengers, landing in Baghdad. The U.S. declared this act a violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions. Russia also sent a plane to Iraq, inciting U.S. anger.

In America, a court ruled against Iran, ordering it to pay over $300 million to the family of an American killed in Lebanon. This is not the first time; such actions are often more political than legal. It would be expected for Iran to issue similar rulings against the U.S. in its own courts.
