Hashemi's Account of the Friday Prayer Sermons Across the Country

Full Entry of the Day:

I was at home. Before noon, my sister Tayebeh came with several relatives. They were heading to Nough for the mourning ceremony for sister Fatemeh. Tayebeh, who was with Fatemeh, recounted the exact details of her passing, which closely resembles what I wrote on the previous page. By noon, the children had gathered, and in the evening, more relatives came to offer condolences. I spent most of my time reading. I finished reading the screenplay for the Airbus film; overall, it is good. I also made several remarks.

Mohsen brought the book "Unfinished Critique," which has recently been published. Mr. Habibollah Hamidi wrote in defense of me regarding the smear campaigns against me and included examples of the services during the Reconstruction period; it is good. He also brought part of a draft for another book titled "Absent Interview," which consists of questions and answers supposedly asked of me. It has its merits, but the information is weak and hasn't turned out well. I made many remarks about it.

In today's Friday prayers, there were numerous criticisms regarding the cultural, economic, and political situation of the government and the reformists, and some praised Mr. [Seyyed Mohammad] Khatami's position at the Islamic Conference summit, which resembles that of the Supreme Leader. Many also criticized the statement issued by the conference. Several Arab and Pakistani media outlets have criticized it as well, and given the recent increase in Palestinian [intifada] martyrs, the criticisms have become more severe.

In the United States, the election crisis continues. The Supreme Court, contrary to Bush's opinion, has allowed the manual counting of votes in Florida to continue. The Democrats are hopeful that by counting areas with a significant number of supporters, they can reduce the gap, which is approximately 300 votes.
