Full Text of the Daily Note:

Despite OPEC's decision, oil prices experienced an upward trend today, with Western countries citing low additional production levels. Oil-rich countries blame the high taxes imposed by the West on fuel and the profits of oil intermediaries. A serious discussion is underway regarding the necessity of reducing consumption taxes and cutting oil company profits, which fuels unrest in most Western countries, currently protesting against high fuel prices.

Mr. [Seyyed Mohammad Baqir] Mohri, a cleric from Kuwait [Secretary-General of the Society of Shiite Scholars in Kuwait], came. He expressed gratitude for the support I provided in strengthening his position and requested that I inform IRIB to feature him in Sima-e Sahar programs and Arabic radio.

Mr. [Mahmoud] Azimzadeh [from the Aqiq Cultural and Artistic Institute] came, seeking financial assistance for printing the Quran, which has been prepared as "Mushaf Aqiq" in the handwriting of Mr. [Bahrām] Sālaki. The family of martyr [Seyyed Ali] Andarzgu visited and spoke about their younger son's home and sought employment for their other son, complaining about the current situation in the country. [Seyyed Mohammad Ali] son of Asiyd Morteza [Mortezavi] Langarudi [the imam of the Ashqali Mosque in Qom] came and mentioned that he had incurred debts due to the construction of religious schools and sought assistance.

In the afternoon, I had an interview regarding chemical war veterans, a program aimed at defending their rights and filing complaints against the entities that armed Iraq with chemical weapons; the discussion shifted to other war-related issues. I also had an interview with Radio Payam about my memories of the moment the war started.

In the evening, I was a guest of the Leader. They said that Mr. Khatami [the President] was requested to ensure that Egypt does not normalize relations before condemning the Camp David Accords regarding peace between Israel and Egypt; thus, their meeting with Mr. Hosni Mubarak [the President of Egypt] at the United Nations did not take place, even though the preparations for it had been made earlier. Furthermore, Mr. [Mahdi] Karroubi [the Speaker of Parliament] met and negotiated with representatives of the U.S. Congress at the Metropolitan Museum without permission, which was inappropriate. The Foreign Ministry was likely affected, and a complaint was lodged to seek explanations. The program to welcome Mr. Khatami was misguided and caused them losses. They provided explanations about their lessons and the books they are studying for the course.
